Stop and Smell the Roses

Created specifically for Liberty, Missouri, Stop and Smell the Roses transforms the courtyard in front of City Hall. Forty abstract roses made from steel, expanded metal, and glass adorn the 30-foot-long structure, spilling over the planter bed in front of City Hall in an exuberant display of color and light.

This piece reflects Liberty’s distinctive character—a community close to Kansas City, but with a rhythm all its own. It has the warmth of a hometown where generations of families have raised children, planted gardens, and built lives together. At the same time, Liberty’s historic square has experienced an exciting revival in recent years, becoming a lively destination filled with art, shops, restaurants, and renewed energy.

At its heart, the piece is a reminder to pause, notice where we are, appreciate the people and places around us, and make room for beauty in everyday life.
