Libelle
Meaning “dragonfly” in German, Libelle is an 8-foot-tall stainless steel sculpture created during an artist residency at Buffalo Creek Art Center in Gardnerville, Nevada.
The polished steel surface captures and reflects the surrounding landscape, shifting in color and brightness with the desert light. In the open Nevada sun, the sculpture gleams like a living creature in motion—its delicate, sweeping forms evoking the flight and grace of the dragonfly it represents. The Buffalo Creek Art Center residency provides artists the opportunity to create large-scale works on its 34-acre property nestled at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and Libelle stands as a shimmering testament to the intersection of nature, reflection, and form.
