Van Gogh's FlowersFor the summer 2025 exhibition Van Gogh’s Flowers, the New York Botanical Garden commissioned me to create four large-scale sculptures inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s iconic floral paintings. The series--Irises, Roses, Oleanders, and Imperial Fritillaries—translates Van Gogh’s vibrant, expressive brushwork into dimensional forms made for the garden’s living landscape.
Concept & Inspiration Each sculpture is a three-dimensional reimagining of Van Gogh’s still-life compositions. I aimed to capture the emotion and rhythm of his paintings by abstracting the petals, leaves, and vases into layered shapes and dynamic silhouettes. The pedestal forms mirror Van Gogh’s loose and animated painting style, becoming part of the sculptural storytelling. Materials & Techniques
Exhibition & ReceptionUnveiled during the press and patron preview events, the sculptures are now on view as part of Van Gogh’s Flowers, open to the public from May 24th -October 26, 2025. Set within the garden’s seasonal bloom, the sculptures invite visitors to walk among Van Gogh’s flowers in a new, immersive way. |
